On May 1st, Ireland’s Taoiseach Leo Varadkar presented the roadmap to guide us through the end of the lock down. Beginning on May 18th, Ireland will begin our gradual journey to reopening our businesses, jobs, social lives and more.
This will be a 5 phases programme, with 3 weeks interval between each phase, subject to the ongoing public health advice, with movement to the next phase only possible if the covid virus remains under control between each phase.
At Go Visit Ireland we welcome this news and we will continue to follow all news, advice and guidelines regarding the easing of restrictions for our favourite activities, walking, cycling and the reopening of our local business that we support and depend on.
We have seen the social media messages, Dream Now, Travel Later, and Roam from Home etc. Now we can begin again to make those dreams a reality. Getting outdoors and into the fresh air is essential for our mental health and well-being. From May 18th we can extend our range of activities as we look forward to the reopening of beaches, parks, walking trails and other tourist sites.
We are working hard to ensure we can continue to offer you our services throughout this transition time. For those that have holidays booked for this year, you can take the opportunity to postpone your trip for a later time, when it is safer to travel.
We are also working on new tours and mini breaks for those who prefer to explore Ireland this year. Our rural and remote countryside will be a luxury escape for all. More information on these soon!
It will be a slow and gradual process and it will take time to understand our “new normal”, what protocols will be in place and guidelines will need to be adhered to. Please be assured that when we are ready to welcome you again, your health and safety will always be of utmost importance to us. At all times we will be following the health authorities’ guidelines and be Covid compliant.
In the meantime, please continue to take the advice – stay safe and let’s avoid a second wave.
